3 Rules To Feel Good When Your Sick and Get Better Sooner

So I’ve been sick for the past 3 days and it really stinks. I feel like I get hit by a truck and various other ailments such as a sore throat, nausea, runny nose, etc. What I want to share with you is something I learned a few years ago about getting sick with things like the flu or a cold that might make your life a little easier.

Rule 1: Avoid The Negative

Your already feeling under the weather so why beat yourself up more by thinking negative. Thinking negative about your situation is one of the worst possible things you could do and will only make you feel worse and drag out your symptoms longer. When you think negative you won’t feel that urge to really get up and take care of yourself. You probably won’t take medicine like you should and will neglect the things that get you better faster. Instead think positive and find positives in you situation.

When your sick you might have to look a little harder to find the positive, but it’s there. It could be that you finally get some days off from work to rest and relax. You might get a chance to read a certain book you’ve been wanting to while your in bed. Think about how much more you will appreciate feeling good once the sickness passes. Enjoy and appreciate the support you get from friends and family that try to nurse you back to health. Take the time to really stop and think about all the things you have to be thankful for.

Rule 2: Take Advantage of The Sickness

One of my favorite reasons to be sick is all the wonderful things that become way easier while your sick. I’ll give you two really good examples. The first thing is quitting smoking. If you smoke regularly and have been looking for an ample time to quit, wait until you get a flu or a cold. Chances are you won’t want to smoke, it will probably taste bad anyways. Just stop as soon as you get sick and by the time you have gotten better you will have passed the hardest part of quitting.

Another one of my favorites is weight loss. Your appetite will probably decrease and you may switch from solids to more liquids. You might eat nothing, but soup and drink lots of water. This is a great time to start a new diet. You may lose a few pounds while your sick and get your appetite adjusted to a smaller amount of food. All you have to do here is come out running with an exercise program and keep it going. I’ve come out from being sick and lost more weight the following week than I did in 3 months.

Rule 3: What You Do While Your Sick Really Does Affect Your Recovery Time

Some people think “I’ll just wait it out” well you could do this or you could get better quicker with the right medicine and work. A little work goes a long ways while your sick. You need to make an effort to drink lots of fluids, eat as much as you can (especially liquids, get to the doctor asap for medicine, take vitamins, get plenty of rest, use anything over the counter you need to. Don’t be afraid to do all of this at the first sign of sickness to reduce your cold or flu all together.

I hope these 3 rules can help you out some when you feel sick. I myself have found out that by doing positive things while your sick you feel remarkably amazing once you get better. Give this a try sometime. Good Luck!
